A little bit about me...

Hi! I'm Mandy — a product designer based in Vancouver, currently exploring new opportunities.

I got into design through a weird but perfect path. I studied Public Relations in university, and there was one course on psychology that completely hooked me — I loved figuring out how people think and what drives their decisions. I'd also been drawing and painting my whole life, and spent a lot of time behind a camera. When I randomly met a senior UX designer who described her work, it clicked immediately: design was the thing that let me combine all of it — psychology, creativity, and problem-solving.

That's been the thread through my career since. I started as a UX designer at ExpressVPN, spending a few years focused on web — checkout flows, editorial partnerships, landing pages, design systems. The work that excited me most was always the stuff closest to outcomes: did the redesign actually move the number? Did the change I shipped make a measurable difference? I like it when design has a scoreboard.

About a year ago, I deliberately shifted into product design because I wanted to learn how users interact with smaller screens and more constrained interfaces. Moving from responsive web to mobile product work pushed me to think differently about hierarchy, progressive disclosure, and how to make complex flows feel simple on a 6-inch screen.

Outside of work, I volunteer with communities like TEDx, where I get to design and create artwork for events. I still paint when I can, and I read more than I probably should. If the weather's nice, I'm usually out exploring the city with my dog Chubby.

I'm always happy to meet new people and talk about design — feel free to reach out!

Always down for collaborations. I love to make products even more meaningful.
